About WaSQL

What does WaSQL mean?

Originally the name WaSQL came from the idea of allowing Non-Tech-Savvy End-Users to perform database functions and even database administration using "SQL" (Sequal Query Language) via a webpage. We called this "Web Access to SQL". This became WaSQL.

How long has WaSQL been around?

WaSQL is trully a 5th or 6th generation platform, without the overhead of having been concieved before the prominense of web-base applications. Inventor Steve Lloyd began building early WaSQL archetypes more than 15 years ago. Early versions of Steve's database platforms were launched as successful full-scale businesses, and were even awarded U.S. patents because of the innovative nature of Steve's ideas. Similar to Cold Fusion, these early projects were both the product and the language.

After selling his interest in the previous projects, Steve became ever more passionate about the power of low-overhead, web based technologies such as PHP. Today WaSQL continues to attract projects and companies worldwide because WaSQL delivers on Steve's original vision: Enabling End-Users to perform as many functions as possible and giving clients multiple levels of control.

This remains our passion, and we are pleased to present you WaSQL today: A full-scale, mature, secure, stable, scalable tool for developing the simplest website, to the most complex and vast projects concievable.
Yes, we think Facebook and Google should have been developed using WaSQL - and they COULD BE.

Is WaSQL Object-Oriented?

WaSQL IS object oriented, and can be developed completely using objects. That said, we believe that a program can utilize the benefits of object-oriented design and incorporate the simplicity of earlier procedural methods of coding. In many cases this can save a project time and money without sacrificing scalability. Another key benefit to the WaSQL approach is that less experienced programmers can succeed faster, and at a higher rate. This enables them to be more confident, enjoy their projects - and get more work done in less time.
